Lead Epidemiologists, Dr. Josie Golding is said in a SciDev.net YouTube video that diseases like Covid-19 is a wake-up call that affects everyone.
Besides being an Epidemiologist, Josie Golding is program officer for epidemic preparedness and response at Welcome Trust.
“Epidemics, unchecked cam grow and affect everyone in the world,” Golding said, “So that’s my biggest hope, I do think Covid-19 is a wake-up call.”
“In the past 20 years we have seen a number of high-threat diseases emerging with pandemic potential, and we now, more than ever, appreciate the full cost of epidemics,“ she said in a news release by Oxford University.
She adds that being prepared can only help slow the impact of the virus but activities should be implemented to manage the outbreak.
